Wake Boarding

The DIPOLOG YOUTH CLUB (DYC)

The DYC 2nd Annual Wakeboarding Contest was held at Round Lake in Round Lake Beach, a good 45 minute drive from Chicago. This year's attendance is amazing, there were @least 60 attendees and 18 of that registered for the contest.DYC members and friends were there and a strong support from the CDR was evident because it coincided with their annual water fun.

The Beginner Class was well participated with riders from Ohio and the Philippines and a 12 year old wonder named Michael "Mikee" Ang who wowed the young girls garnered second only to be beaten by Alan Ranillo from the Philippines who dominated the class, and Titot Culanculan who grabbed third.

In the Novice Class,Carlo Rodriguez showed flashes with unbelievable tricks that made him an all around guy whatever things you throw at him.Flint Concha  who was still suffering from a jet lag, rounded up the second spot while Troy Celemin took the third podium spot after falling behind in the trick points.

In the Elite Class,Lyndon Bernardez failed to perform his tricks due to choppy waters which he dialed well during practice 2 weeks ago,Bobby Mayor suffered the same dilemma with choppy waters and garnered runner up spots 3rd and 2nd places respectively. The pressure  was on with defending champion Alvin Ang who was never affected by choppy waters and was able to throw down his bag of tricks and kept the crown.

In the Women Class, anew champion was crowned ,Rose Ang dominated her class while the rider from Germany,Josy Kotsch figured it out a little too late yet she grabbed second place and Erika Sienes took third.

The DYC President Paul Daarol ,during the awarding ceremony thanked everone who attended the event and hope to see more people again next year. Congratulations to all the winners.

The Chicago Dirt Riders annual water fun has gotten
better each year. This time it has transformed into a
wakeboarding competition, a perfect way to put an
exclamation point on this very hot summer. I mean why
not? Guys had gotten better at the sports and the
availability of a very cool wakeboard boat and a very
enthusiastic sponsor. Liberty Home Health Care was very
generous and willingly supported the event. The
company's owners and employees are into wakeboarding
,so selling the idea to them was not difficult at
all. The CDR president had just gotten "..Finding Nemo"
a 21 ft Correct Craft Air Nautique Wakeboard boat. The
combination of all these elements....wakeboarders,a boat and a sponsor would surely be a great wakeboarding event .The event went underway @11am and on hand were the" Mayor's" yellow boat and three jetskis and Ambibo to cover the event. The beginner class were the first to test the waters of Round Lake Beach . Lake Icao dominated the first batch with 6.8 who got out of the water quick but fell at 33 seconds ., only to be overtaken by Troy Celemin
who scored 7.5 who tried three attempts to get out of the water but stayed up more than 3 minutes, but Carlo Rodriguez took the championship in the beginner class who scored an almost perfect 9.The trick was get out once stayed up a full minute .The Women Class was dominated by Maita Bernedo who scored a perfect 10. Rose Ang got second place and Erica Sienes nabbed third place. The Expert class was a good battle between Alvin Ang ,Lyndon Bernardez and Bobby Mayor. At the end of the day it was the most difficult trick that made the difference.Bobby Mayor made a premature one hander only to fall off early.Lyndon made a a frontside one handed wake touch but Alvin had his toeside and heelside switch dialed and an ollie.Alvin Ang is the new wakeboarding champion ,Lyndon got second place and Bobby grabbed third. Congratulations to all the podium finishers. Till next summer for the 2nd annual wakeboarding contest.

South Beach Florida

Beach Miami, Days  Inn South Beach is not too shabby @ $54 a night per room, the ocean is stone throw away and plenty of beautiful faces to see and not to  mention the scantily clad people around. We are telling you MIAMI is true to its word, it is PARADISE. The place where we were staying may not be the best but its right at the heart of Ocean Drive and as you strolled you see plenty of expensive restaurants and boutiques but hey! there was one Burger King that was very affordable. Photos
BEACH, After breakfast we planned our water fun activities and  headed to the launching area ,of course ! our jet skis and the speed boat in tow. The launch area was a good ten miles from South Beach , so riding the stand up jet ski was a bit tricky and physically challenging. As we traversed through the no wake channel we passed by million dollar homes with yachts on their own backyards. Goodness its good to be rich! Photos
BOATING, As soon as the personal water crafts and the boat were filled @ a refueling station we headed to the beach and WATER FUN started. The water was turquoise blue and SALTY!!!!! yeah IT was salty.! Of course its sea water but that was not the point there. Most of us had not swum in salt water for almost a decade , we were so used to the lakes here in Chicago. We finished the activities for the day when everyone had  tried James' fast yet comfortable runabout (waverunner) that sits three or Alvin's challenging stand up super jet (Jetski) and not to forget Bobby's death defying speed boat ,bumpy yet lots of fun. So far so good since those heavy equipments that we towed for 1400 miles was put to good use .Night fell it was time to party( due to the graphic nature of the events that transpired that night we apologize that we could not publish them)Photos
Deep sea Fishing
This was our last full day in Miami and yes it was sunny and a perfect day for our fishing expedition. After Lake had arranged the fishing vessel that will take us to the deep sea waters of the Atlantic, most of us headed to the beach to take a final swim before leaving home tomorrow as the fishing schedule was not until 1 p.m. Miami's South Beach is notorious for its scantily clad beach-goers and true to its notoriety we spotted a few sun bathers but mostly concerned about the tan on their back sides until we ran across three women who were tanning their front sides and yes nothing but thongs and yeah they did not mind having their pictures taken with Lake beside them. One lucky son of a gun!!!! Hey don't forget who took the pictures ,its ME!!! At 1 p.m. we were rushing to the pier where we were taking the fishing vessel , we almost did not make it !
Rules were explained to all the fishing participants and a contest was also set as to the biggest catch of the day wins a pot money. We did not expect blue marlins nor amber jacks but we were hopeful. I caught a mackerel and a kid caught a seemingly heavier yellow fin tuna , Orly caught a blue jack and Lake got a stone fish but it was tossed back by the captain. When we sailed back to pier I got the heaviest catch and beat that kid which tipped the scale @ 81/2 lbs winning the pot money. Not bad for a fishing trip where we got a good tan and the experience of deep sea fishing. We
returned to our hotel rooms prepared some SUTOKIL, its a special Filipino dish which consisted of broiling, boiling and preparing the fish raw much like the Japanese sashimi. Photos
